At Clark Brookes Turner Cary Solicitors, we provide sensitive and considered advice in the complex area of Mental Health law. We are one of only a few firms of solicitors advising in this area within West Bromwich, Stratford-upon-Avon, Stourbridge, Halesowen and Birmingham, and as such have built up an enviable reputation for the experience and quality of service we are able to offer our clients.

Mental Health

Who do we represent?

Our Mental Health law department, led by Julian Rawstorne from our Stratford-Upon-Avon office with the assistance of Gareth Morris, represents clients who have been ‘sectioned’ under the Mental Health Act 1983, their relatives and carers. We have in depth experience of working with many local authorities, providing advice on their duties and responsibilities under mental health legislation. We advise clients across the Midlands on the full gamut of mental health law, including compulsory admissions, hospital orders, judicial reviews, and mental health tribunal hearings. In addition, we work alongside our criminal law solicitors in criminal cases with a mental health element. In many cases, clients in mental health cases may be eligible for legal aid, which may wholly or partly fund their legal representation. We can provide guidance on eligibility for legal aid funding and help with the application process.

Our pursuit of excellence

While we strive to pursue excellence in all of our areas of practice, the work we undertake in mental health is particularly sensitive and requires a deep sense of professionalism and a commitment to helping clients through a difficult process. We have been recognised by The Law Society through the award of membership in the Mental Health Accreditation scheme, which confirms that we abide by The Law Society’s Code of Practice for Mental Health. Julian personally oversees all of our mental health matters, ensuring you have a single point of contact and can easily get in touch for advice or to air any concerns.
